Further to yesterday’s big shiny gift guide, we thought we ought to post some suggestions for the women entrepreneurs in your life. What do you buy the woman who’s running a business? Well, as you might expect, we have a few thoughts on the matter. In fact, we went so far as to put together a little Amazon store, which we’ll be expanding on over time. For now, it contains a few of the business-related books we love best, some books by the fabulous women profiled in The Boss of You, and a few other oddments such as Moleskines and software.
You can visit the store here.
There are of course many things Amazon doesn’t sell, and some of the best gifts we can think of for the entrepreneurial types in our lives are things that don’t need to be bought at all. Many of the best presents we got from friends are little things we keep in the office and use every day — they’re constant reminders of the love and support we’ve had from our friends. Kitschy magnets, plants, pictures, desk accessories, coasters to set our mugs on, and of course the mugs themselves: All of these small objects create an atmosphere of community that can go a long way towards keeping a business gal warm when the workday gets long and success seems far in the future.
A few other suggestions:
- Some good tea or coffee, and/or non-perishable snacks (we like granola bars) to stash in the office… or even a bottle of something stronger, for those days when a celebration is in order;
- A gift certificate for a massage, or other form of pampering, to help de-stress from those long hours at work;
- A home-cooked meal, delivered to her door;
- A loving, handwritten note to let her know you understand why she’s less available than she used to be, that you’re cheering her on towards unparalleled success — and that you’ll be first in line to raise a glass with her when she’s got a minute to spare.
Anyone care to add to the list? Post your ideas in the comments!
