Falling Back in Love

March 28th, 2008 by Emira · 4 Comments

Every author we know tried to console us during the final slog of the editing process by promising us that when we held our first real live copy we’d fall back in love. They told us that the emotional surge we’d feel the moment we tore open that box of author copies would help ease the pain of those final months of proofing, fact checking and copy editing. At the time, we responded like sulky teenagers certain that no one knew just how frustrated we were and pretty certain that there was nothing that was ever going to make us fall back in love with this project. Yesterday we were proven wrong.

Our box of author copies arrived and the adrenaline rush was awesome. While I’d still caution any would be writer to steel themselves for the process of publishing, somehow it all seems worth it again. Best of all? I’m right back to the place we started this project in: really excited to share this book with other established and aspiring businesswomen. And bursting with excitement about meeting new smart businessgals as we go on our book tour and do ongoing promotion for the book, and starting up a space for a new type of dialogue about business, women and success. This is going to be so much fun!

I read the sample chapter and found it really encouraging. I’m a creative type trying to figure out what I can do business wise with my stuff and I think this book will help. Thanks.
