Just waking up and getting ready to check out of our hotel after our event at Borders last night. We’ll write more about that later, but suffice it to say the woman who organized it, Kennetta is like some kind of author’s dream come true. Our entire visit here has been all about making sure we’re getting everything we need from tasty meals and cozy beds to strategic connections with bookstores. She is truly an amazing woman.
While we’ve been out here on the east coast we’ve had a very frustrating time trying to actually locate our book in real live bookstores. There seem to be many mix-ups about when our book is actually available for sale — Barnes & Noble has a publishing date of June 28th at both their stores and on their website — and some other places seem to be selling out (nothing to complain about there). I can’t begin to tell you how frustrating it is to not be able to get our books out there to eager readers, so I thought I’d give you a bit of a low down on what I know about where you can get The Boss of You.
- Currently Amazon.com says the book will ship in 1-4 weeks. Apparently this is cuz they’re out of stock, though our publisher insists they’ll have more stock soon. So go ahead and order it and perhaps it will come more quickly?
- Powell’s online says they have 1 copy. I’ll leave it up to you all to call dibs on that one.
- Border’s books seem to have the book in stock at various locations, but they don’t do online shipping.
- Some smaller independent bookstores do also seem to have it in stock, so call your favourite and see what they can do for you. (Elliot Bay in Seattle definitely had a few when we were there last weekend).
- In Canada, it is rumoured to be at Chapters locations, but I’ve had a few in person reports of no stock in the stores. So maybe call ahead and make someone go check the shelves for you.
- In Vancouver, we dropped a few copies off at Dream Apparel on Cordova Street and they’ll gladly hook you up.
- And, you can also try to win a copy from Megan over at Not Martha.
Please let us know if you’re having trouble finding a copy — maybe leave us a note in the comments — we’re trying to sort this stock business out with our publisher now.

I’ve ordered a book from Borders in Brisbane, Australia that was on Special Order and had to be shipped overseas from the US. If anyone internationally had a Borders and wanted this book, I’d suggest seeing if their Borders has the book on special order.

I was at the Chapters at Robson & Burrard (looking for it) and they had about 8-10 copies, I made a wee display of them on the shelf (turned the covers out) and some copies may have some how ended up on the business book display table - but you’ll have to ask Mark about that :)

I live in St. Bruno, Quebec and there is an Indigo in the community of Brossard not to far. They had it in stock how many I’m not sure. But all I know is that I walked out with one in my hand. Yeeeesssss!
Thanks a million great book!

I snagged the last copy (on the shelves anyhow) at Chapters at Broadway & Granville last weekend, so yeah, definitely call ahead. Of course I have two copies to give away too…
